La pobladora cine is a Uruguayan production house oriented to arthouse cinema. It arose as the initiative of Alex Piperno to produce his own films and to collaborate in projects of other directors with an authorial affinity, resulting in regional and international co-productions. Our films have been presented in some of the most important festivals in the world such as Cannes, Berlin, Rotterdam and New Directors / New Films and include “Parabellum” by Lukas Rinner (IFFR, 2015), “Let the lights go away” by Javier Favot (FIDMarseille, 2020), “Window boy would also like to have a submarine” by Alex Piperno (Berlinale, 2020) and “Périphérique Nord” by Paulo Carneiro (Visions du Réel, 2022).
Alex Piperno (1985, Montevideo) is a director, producer and teacher graduated from the Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires. Selected in EAVE Puentes (2019), Berlinale Talents (2012, 2013) and Talents BA (2011). Among his films stand out the short films “The inviolability of the domicile is based the man who appears wielding an ax at the door of his house” (2011, Cannes Critics’ Week) and “Weep the headless madness of these fields” (2019, Bafici, Ficunam) and the feature film “Window boy would also like to have a submarine” (2020, Berlinale Forum), considered one of the twenty-five best Latin American films of the year.
